Ome sunny saturday afternoon, several years ago, as I was bemoaning the lack of vintage and antique stores in the area, a google search turned up the mysterious sounding Ralph & Co in Burwell. Open by appointment only at that time, I rang and spoke to the charming Karl who agreed to meet me there shortly to show me around. Little did I know what wonders would await.Karl's cavernous but cosy space is a genuine Aladdin's cave of eye-catching mid-century modernism, breathtaking neons, fairground attractions and bizarre but alluring taxidermy.Coupled with his courteous, and customer-first approach, I've spent more than I should here on every single visit, been on the receiving end of some stellar deals, and picked up some of my favourite pieces, some of them delivered for free, even though I'm somewhat traffic-troubled right in the centre of Cambridge. So charmed am I by Karl, that when he asked me to model some of his latest acquisitions, I didn't hesitate, and I have to say, the results have blown me away, even if I do say so myself. If you don't go here, even just to look around (there's no such thing as a visit without falling in love with one curio or another), you're missing out on one of the finest retailers in the known vintage world.I've never met Ralph, Karl's son, after whom the whole setup is named, but he can be proud of his dad's success, and that's before the secret cinema upstairs opens up (Did I say that out loud?)
I came across Ralph & Co, when looking for an antique shop near Cambridge. The website caught my attention straight away as it was so different. It oozed fun. As an avid collector I was keen to visit, but we waited for my step sons birthday, as he too has the collecting bug. I ordered gift vouchers for him and when they arrived, along with the chocolates, the branding was bang on.The day of our visit came, and I think we were all blown away with Ralph & Co Headquarters. Karl, such a lovely guy, made us feel really welcome and even showed us the Secret Cinema which was awesome. The variety of stock appealed to all of us...even my wife who is not a lover of antiques at all, came away with something! At the end of the visit, the car was fully loaded! I have since bought many other things from Karl. His prices are fair, his attention to detail unwavering and he is a genuinely lovely guy who has such a passion for what he does. Ive dealt with many people in antiques and people like Karl are few and far between.Check out the site, check out the shop, there really is something for everyone! I love checking out what he may have for sale next!
Very nostalgic showroom with lots of exciting eccentric antiques. I bought a fairground horse! Have a look on the website
This place is absolutely amazing! The owner is friendly, cool and attentive. We went there for a party, upstairs is a private cinema room, just awesome.
Wonderful emporium of unique treasures. Worth a look in as you'll never know what you may find. Lovely owner too.
